Rapidweaver Domains
This is not the only domain service that works for Rapidweaver, just the one Rapidweaver Basics prefers.

What is a domain?
The domain is the first step to having you very own website. A domain is the name that people type into the browser to connect to your website. In order to have a website it is necessary to have both a domain and hosting. A domain is the name to call on the website and the hosting is the location of the site.

Who do you recommend?
We prefer using Go Daddy for buying the domains but not hosting. Go Daddy has some nice features including auto-renewal, quick processing, and very low-priced domains. It is important to understand that both the domain and hosting will need to be paid on an ongoing basis. The domains are paid for on an annual basis at an average rate of around $10 per year. The hosting is usually on a per-month basis or a per year pricing structure.

What is a good domain?
It is important when choosing a domain to think like a visitor. If you choose a rapidweaver domain name that no one will recognize then it might be hard to remember. This makes it easy for someone to remember the name and pass it on to other people. It is also helpful for people to associate your site with the purpose of the site. If you are planning on building alot of traffic and are willing to wait then picking a random name is still an option.

If you are looking for a great domain service, Rapidweaver Basics recommends Go Daddy. While the hosting solution is not the best for Rapidweaver users, the domain registration services are always top notch and great low prices. There are other domain services and you might even consider using the domains from your host. I prefer to keep them all on Go Daddy. There are other domain register services out there, but Rapidweaver Training recommends using Go Daddy. It has worked for us and we have never had any problems using them as a domain service.

We also recommend to only buy the domain, not the extra services. They are unnecessary to spend a large amount of money on extras that you will have to keep paying for. Just get the domain and try to get at least 2 years if you have the budget. Many spam sites use 1 year renewals, so it might help your site to get a longer registration. Also keep the info public because it will help with the trust of your site.
